Security firm Sophos has published a report stating that in
Q1 of 2012, India overtook the US the world’s number one source of spam.
While the report noted the overall amount of spam had decreased
globally due to better control from ISPs, India’s rise was highlighted
because of the growing Internet using population.
The top 12 spam-relaying countries for January to March 2012 are as follows:
Additionally, the report noted that 46.7 percent of the world spam
came from Asia, 26.9 percent of the spam came from Europe and 11.9
percent of the spam came from South America. North America contributed
10.9 percent to the global kitty of spam and Africa contributed only 3
percent.
